What is yoga?
Yoga is philosophy and practices of wellbeing for mind and body, with the aim of allowing each of us to reach our fullest potential.
It originated in India around 3,000 years ago and is now practiced by 2 billion people according to a UN news story!
A typical class is a sequence of chanting, postures, breathing exercises, relaxation and meditation that help the student connect with their body, mind and emotions.
What are the benefits of yoga?
Modern city life can be stressful and fast-paced so I believe yoga’s essential benefit is to help students to quiet their minds and reconnect with their bodies.
Contrary to popular opinion yoga is not mainly about flexibility but equally about strength. Yoga will improve your body awareness, stretch and strengthen your muscles, and help tone your body.
It also has a high potential to improve your lung capacity, support better digestion, soothe the nervous system and help you get a good night’s sleep.
Who will your classes work for?
These classes will work for anyone who is interested, I am very passionate about this point. Many people are put off my yoga thinking it is only for flexible, younger women but this could not be further from the truth! Yoga’s benefits are universal for anyone; young or older, male or female, special needs or typical.
I also like to create a welcoming atmosphere from myself and the other students and make each class relaxed and friendly.

I’ve tried yoga classes before, how do I know this will work for me?
My classes are Open Level so suitable for all levels and abilities.
The style of yoga I teach is Hatha and includes sequences of poses “flow” – but it goes at a focused, gentle pace. For every pose whether restorative or advanced there are modifications to suit every body and mood.
Also your first class is a free taster so you can have a great idea if the classes will work for you by experiencing it directly.
What do I need to do to make this work?
Not a saint 🙂 but someone who is enthusiastic and willing to make time for the change you seek!
You are ready to make a commitment to a regular yoga practice so you really feel the benefits to your body and mind. You must be up for making the time to invest in yourself and be ready to have fun at the same time in a very supportive, small group environment.
What do I need to bring/do before class?
It’s best to practice yoga on an empty stomach, so I would advise nothing expect for maybe a light snack in the three hours before class. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing. Mats and blocks are provided but feel free to bring your own too.
Please let me know if you have any injuries or illness when you arrive at class or before via email or phone if you are unsure whether to practice.
